The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
