Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
