Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

American entertainer Finn, who appeared in popular television series including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a announcement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
